Required Written Programs

Cartoon: More OSHA regulations.

OSHA

Written programs contain your policies and procedures and serve as reference documentation that you have complied with the regulatory requirements of OSHA.

Bloodborne Pathogens Program - You have employees with occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials so you must have a written program tailored to your practice. Your bloodborne pathogens program includes policies and procedures and addresses and includes all of the engineering, administrative and work-practice controls necessary to protect your employees from exposure to infectious or potentially infectious materials.

Infectious Waste Management Program - Managing infectious waste is part of the bloodborne pathogens requirement. Many health departments and other local or regional agencies now require separate written policies for infectious waste management. For that reason, we include a site-specific Infectious Waste Management Program in all OSHA programs.

Hazard Communication Program - Your employees use products containing hazardous chemicals so you must have a written Hazard Communication Program tailored to your practice. Your program includes policies and procedures which document how you communicate product safety information to each affected employee.

Accident Prevention Program - Hazards in every workplace are unique. OSHA requires that you understand the hazards in your facility and develop an Accident Prevention Program to address them. Your program includes general safety and health policies and procedures, specifying what you do to protect employees from anything that could cause illness or injury. It also addresses how to respond if an accident occurs. Many states now require all employers to put their Accident Prevention Programs in writing. For that reason, we include a site-specific Accident Prevention Program in all OSHA programs that we write.

Tuberculosis Prevention Program - Although TB programs are not required by Federal OSHA, some states require written TB prevention programs. For that reason, we include one in every OSHA program that we prepare. (Regardless, a TB prevention program is a simple way to help protect patients and staff.)
